A Much Better Day

Fri Mar 11
I got up with my shoulder pain much improved and with more range of movement possible. This is such a relief from the misery of the past nearly a week. Thanks to everyone for their kind thoughts and prayers on my behalf. We made the trip to WestWorld in Scottsdale today for the Good Guys Rod & Custom Association car show. It only included vehicles from 1972 and older. It was amazing to say the least in size and in the number and variety of cars and trucks on display, many of them for sale starting around $24,000 up to one we saw for $145,000. Parking was a half mile away and required a shuttle. The display area covered forty acres or more. A huge soft-sided tent housed many vendors and displays but the grounds outside were where nearly all cars were on display in row after row and around the perimeter. Some of the cars were beautiful beyond description and we were impressed by the incredible talent of the craftsmen that had built and restored these historic vehicles.

'67 Chevelle
Many had pictures of the rusty skeletons they started with and brief histories of the restoration period, some taking years. For Dad it was a dream world with many of the oldies he has admired from his teenage years but could never have except for the '69 Camero we owned briefly in Salt Lake City. It also brought back memories to see '67 Chevelles like the one he was riding in with Randy Rose on the night I met him. On the way back home we stopped at Dad's Aunt Eula's home only to find she was in the hospital. We called Kathy and Norman and met them at the hospital and spent a couple of hours before returning home.

Kathy, Norman and Aunt Eula
Aunt Eula was much improved and was due to be released in the next couple of days. An 88th birthday party is planned for her on the 27th of this month at Norman and Kathy's home. We hope to be there when Norman's only other sibling, his brother Russel will be coming from somewhere in northern Arizona. Dad has not seen Russel since childhood.
