Social at the Campbells and Hawaii in the Park

Wed Mar 23
Today was a beautiful, warm day after the cool stormy weather earlier this week. This morning I cooked blueberry muffins for a social to which we were invited by neighbors Jo and Peter Campbell at their home. Many park residents had also been invited and some brought pot luck dishes. It was a fun time to get better acquainted with neighbors and have a wonderful brunch.

We then went to take pictures of blooming cactus around in the park.

In the afternoon I went shopping for art supplies with Gayle so I can finish some paintings while Gayle is here to help me. Meanwhile Dad enjoyed the pool where he also made some new acquaintances. In the evening I baked a delicious chocolate cake for the Hawaiian luau potluck at the clubhouse. Everyone was given a lei at the door and the variety of dishes was incredible while the park provided ham and turkey. Each table was dealt a card and then a matching deck was shuffled and cards drawn to select table order for serving ourselves. Our table was drawn first out of some 16 tables! We had finished eating when the last table was called. A prize was given for the best Hawaiian dress and a special award was given to a U.S. veteran, Wally Brown, in the form of a quilt provided by the quilters in the park. The party then went on to karaoke and a pool-side social.
